Astros start with three ugly losses

On the plus side, the San Francisco Giants aren’t coming back to town for a few months.

Let’s total up the damage from the opening series sweep the Astros just suffered.

–Scored 6 runs, allowed 18.

–Collected 20 hits in 102 at-bats over three games while allowing 37. The headline on Astros.com says “Offense comes alive in loss,” but seriously. They scored 4 runs, which should be below their season average, and collected 7 hits. The Giants had 19 hits in the third game alone.

–No home runs for the home team.

–The Astros didn’t lead in any of the games.

So, not a good start. The first few games tend to get magnified beyond their actual importance, but there’s no denying the early ugliness. Brad Mills is going to get tested early.
