Game 1: Cubs 4, Astros 2

Well-played game, mostly. Astros made a couple of baserunning errors that did not help. Matsui got doubled off second quite easily because he misjudged whether a ball would drop. Tejada tried to take second when a ball bounced forward away from the Cubs catcher and got shot down on a close play. Baserunners are hard enough to come by off Zambrano. You hate to see the ones you do get run into outs.

A couple of little rallies in the late innings didn’t amount to much. Carlos Lee got his bat sawed off in the eighth, Hunter Pence hit into a double play.

Oswalt was fine. There’s nothing wrong with 3 runs in 7 innings. He can do that all year. Two strikeouts was subpar, though.
