The Brewers have released former Astro Mike Lamb, one of those guys who couldn’t really play third base and couldn’t hit quite well enough to play first base regularly, and so wound up playing third and first and outfield and a couple of games at second. A useful person to have around. Obviously, after having such a weak season offensively last year, he is going to struggle to find a place. He’s 33.
Lamb was the victim of that $50 million Gary Matthews catch in Arlington a few years ago. I do believe that was the best catch I’ve seen.
Former Astro third basemen are getting released right and left — the Rays let Morgan Ensberg go the other day.
