I completely lost track of this, but Roy Oswalt was on track to give up about a million home runs this year through the first couple of months of the season. OK, I exaggerate, but he gave up 16 homers in the first two months.
And he gave up 23 home runs all season. In his last 20 starts of the year, Oswalt pitched 132.2 innings, gave up 27 walks with 110 strikeouts and allowed 7 home runs. ERA: 2.44. OBPA: .276. SLGA: .310.
Not sure what he did or stopped doing, although I’ll take a look.
