Nice to see Brandon Backe pitch well in today’s exhibition game with the Reds. I notice the Houston Chronicle’s report didn’t say anything about how he felt after the game. Probably would have heard something if there had been a problem.

Also, from the box score: Mike DeJean gave up three runs without getting an out and was the biggest contributor to the loss. I assume he’s not a serious threat to make the team at age 37 — he’d be the new Rick White.
